When Inspiration Hits

All week I have been sick and ended up being off work Friday and Saturday. It turns out I had a throat infection... and according to the NHS website, the doctors don't usually prescribe antibiotics for this. The best you can do is gargle salt water, take paracetamol or/and ibuprofen and drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. The same as what the doctor told me over the phone (since I couldn't get an appointment to see a doctor, I did manage to speak with one.) Anyways... by Sunday I was getting fed up having done sod all but sleep and pop pills and go to the loo, (from drinking so much water) and so I decided to try and do some artwork after watching YouTube, I felt inspired. Needless to say I am glad I gave it ago.

Sometimes the best comes out of you when you least expect it.

I began drawing this from a tutorial on Youtube by Nil Rocha Art. Usually I can't really follow tutorials unless I am being spoon fed, step by step, but this guys is really good. You can slow down the videos too if you feel it's going too fast. Also he doesn't talk, there's just music playing, so I turn down the volume and slow the video and start drawing. He tells you what he is using at each stage in the process and if you want to give it your own flare than that's also cool. It means you're not drawing paint by numbers.

This drawing was copied, I won't lie. I wanted to draw the moon and found this on Pinterest. Believe me the original was awesome, but I wanted a crack at drawing and painting it... and this was one of the best things out there... and simple too. Something I felt I could easily do... Especially since I was growing tired.

When I started drawing this, I wanted to practise drawing eyes, but then I found an awesome tutorial on Pinterest how to watercolour. I can usually draw one, but not the other when it comes to eyes. I was so happy with this out come. Also... I have a penpal in Maine, USA and she is a real inspiration to me. She also loves photos and pictures of eyes, I am in mind to send her this next time I write her. At least I have proof I draw it and a copy of it online so if I do send it I can always come back to this! :)

Well, I am back at work tomorrow, so I should go and get some sleep, but I am so pleased with yesterday's progress. It's really helped my confidence grow. Watercolouring is something you have to experiment with. You also have to keep practising. Something I don't do nearly enough. I am getting better at picking up my pencil and pad, however. I just gotta stop being afraid. It's a lot easier said than do, but great things come if you just do it, and don't procrastinate. Charles Dickens said, “My advice is to never do tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the thief of time.”

Also another great quote from Karen Lamb is: “A year from now you may wish you had started today."
